Summing things up

Annie Dillard said “How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives.” 

I have yet to come across anything that brings her idea into such stark relief as the video below. It’s based upon the following thought experiment:

“In the afterlife you relive all your experiences, but this time with the events reshuffled into a new order: all the moments that share a quality are grouped together.” 

So, for example, we spend 34 days longing, 6 months watching commercials, and only 14 minutes of pure joy. It’s a beautiful video. Here’s the video:
